Yes, you are not mistaken. As we promised last year, when we acquired the license to develop Urban War further, we were actively working on a new edition of the game.
We can now share the results of our latest work with you.
New Rulebook and Beta Rules for UW campaigns
So, what are the main changes compared to the previous editions? The core rules will remain 90% as they were in 1st edition. All miniatures will remain in the game. And players don’t need to worry that their faction will go off balance. There will be a few minor tweaks here and there to smooth out some aspects of the game. As well as we will add a few points to clarify the rules.
But the new edition’s main feature will be a brand new set of campaign rules! Fight over Iskandria to gain strategic dominance for your faction!
We know you would like to see the campaign rules as soon as possible, so here they are! So, instead of writing about them, we welcome you to give them a good look and let us know your thoughts. We need your help polishing the few final details!

There will be no revolution but an evolution of the game. We will post more about the tweaks we are doing in the upcoming weeks so you can familiarise yourself with them and give us feedback about the changes.

New Urban War – Gamebox
As with our other releases, we are preparing a dedicated boxed set to allow players to quickly start their adventures with our games. This is no exception!
But this set will be slightly different compared to other sets. Firstly, it will not include metal miniatures. Yes, we have decided to use the SioCast technology. As long as we love metal models, times change, and most importantly, the cost of metal has changed. Sadly, in the last couple of years, the price of metal has increased significantly. We make a hard decision to look for alternatives. And SioCast thermoplastic resin seems to be an excellent way to go.
We know some of you may have reservations regarding the thermoplastic resin, but be assured that we are doing everything to keep the highest possible quality!
So, what will be in this new Gamebox? In short, everything you need to play 3red Urban War! The box will contain the following items*:
- • 4 Junkers Legionaries
- • 1 Junkers Legionary Lancer
- • 4 Viridian Colonial Marines
- • 1 Viridian Colonial Marine with HGR
- • Two brand new named characters. One for each faction. More details about those two will follow soon!
- • Dice
- • Softcover Urban War 3ed rulebook
- • Terrain sheets
- • A3 Map of Iskandria
- • Counter sheets
*Please bear in mind that we are still finalising the box content, and some elements may change before the pre-order.

I was a big advocate for UW back in 2003. I launched UW in my shop and couldn’t keep up with demand. I worked with Urban Mammoth demonstrating the game, not just in the shop but shows.
The first edition of rules in 4 magazines was great. second edition was a nice progression. I am really looking forward to see how you have enriched the rules.

I have had Syntha and Viridian models for decades! Now I know about the new edition, I shall dust them off and look at expanding my collection – looking forward to this with bated breath!
